"When will the Tip Tax be scrapped?" - Lib Dems call for Surrey Cabinet Member to name the date

12 Apr 2017

Liberal Democrat county councillors in Surrey have written to the Conservative Cabinet Member for the Environment asking him to name the date that the controversial "Tip Tax" will be scrapped.

Following guidance issued by the Government earlier this week, Cllr Stephen Cooksey, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for the Environment on Surrey County Council, has written to Cllr Mike Goodman, Cabinet Member for the Environment, asking him for further assurances that the charges will be dropped.

Cllr Cooksey said:

"I have written to Cllr Goodman asking him to name the day that the waste charges in Surrey will end on those disposing of DIY waste. They should never have been introduced in the first place. The guidance from the Government this week could not be clearer, so I am hoping that Cllr Goodman will be able to name a date that the charges will cease as quickly as possible".
