More Surrey residents are better off
Surrey residents are now seeing the benefits of the Coalition Government's approach to a stronger economy.
The number of Surrey residents on Jobseeker's Allowance has fallen by 1926 in the 12 months to June 2013. This shows that more Surrey residents are in work.
By 2014, 37,430 Surrey residents will have been removed from paying Income Tax, increasing the amount of money they have to spend.
Cllr Hazel Watson, the Leader of the Liberal Democrat opposition on Surrey County Council said: "The Liberal Democrats as part of the Coalition Government are tackling the county's economic problems by encouraging economic growth to provide more jobs and removing more people from paying Income Tax. Thanks to the £700 Income Tax cut, income inequality is lower than at any time under Labour.
"Surrey residents are now benefitting from this by having more people in work and more money for them to spend, supporting the Surrey economy.
"Jobs are the key building block in creating a stronger economy and fairer society that allows everyone to get on in life. That is why the Liberal Democrats are leading the campaign to create a million new jobs to build a stronger economy."
