Lib Dem cost savings adopted by Surrey County Council

30 Jan 2004

The hard work of Lib Dems on Surrey County Council to save council tax payers' money, while protecting Council services, is paying off. A Lib Dem initiative has been adopted by the County Council that will save Surrey council tax payers thousands of pounds in future years.

This the result of Lib Dem Councillors Tom Sharp and Colin Taylor's efforts to implement energy efficiency measures in County Council's premises. Tom Sharp says, "It has been proven beyond doubt that the County Council is wasting a lot of money in utility bills. The implementation of an energy efficiency policy will save all that money, and enable it to be used to protect and improve services to Surrey residents."

"My only regret is how long it has taken for the Conservative administration to understand this simple fact. Had the Liberal Democrats been in control of the Council a lot of money would already have been saved."
